Restaurant Review: The Art of Pizza

The Crossroads District in Kansas City has seen a revival in popularity since the introduction of the First Friday Art Walk. This monthly event brings in crowds from around the metro, and even from outside the region. We find it an opportunity to explore the area in search of new destinations. The recent addition of the streetcar will make this area even easier to explore, as parking can sometimes be difficult to find. One new food location we have found is The Art of Pizza at 1801 Baltimore Avenue.

Located in a fairly nondescript building, it serves up the standard fare of American-Italian menu items. The salads are fresh, and the pizzas are hot and bubbly. You can order a whole pizza or by the slice. On First Fridays they will usually run a single slice special, which gets you in and out quickly, so you can get back to sightseeing. They also offer an assortment of hot and cold sandwiches for those in the mood for a handheld dinner.Soft drinks, water, beer, and wine round out their menu offerings.

So the next time you find yourself looking for a quick bite to eat in the Crossroads District, stop by The Art of Pizza to satisfy your appetite. If it happens to be a First Friday you may have to wait for a table, but hopefully it won't take long. Remember that they have seating out back, as well.
